STAFF FAREWELL PROGRAM

The farewell function of History Lecturer of our college Mrs. Maria Jacintha Furtado was organized on 4th of October, 2025 at Saude Sabha Bhavan.

Mr. Jayashankara K, Principal, St. Mary’s PU College, Shirva welcomed the gathering. Senior Lecturer Mrs. Prabha Shenoy memorized the old memories and conveyed her wishes.

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie Clifford D’ Souza, Correspondent of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva blessed  for happy and healthy retired life. Mr. Baptist Miranda, Retired Principal, St. Mary’s PU College, Shirva conveyed his best wishes.

Ln. Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Church Pastoral Council and Mr. K.R Patkar, President ,St. Mary’s Alumni Association, Shirva, Miss Jenesia Castellino, CPL, Teaching and Non Teaching Staffs, old students and students were present in the programme.

N.S.S. ANNUAL CAMP 2025

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Annual Camp of St Mary’s  PU College, Shirva. was inaugurated at St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Moodubelle on 20th September 2025.

Mr. Jayashanker K, Principal, St. Mary’s College, Shirva welcomed the gathering. Mr. Suresh Shetty Gurme, M.L.A, Kaup Constituency inaugurated the annual NSS camp by lighting the lamp and wished well to the campers.

The inaugural program was presided over by V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie D’Souza, Correspondent of St Mary’s Educational Institutions.

Fr. Cyril Lobo, Rector of Divya Dhaama Minor Seminary, Moodubelle , Mrs. Divya Acharya, president of the Belle Grama Panchayath ,Dr. Herald Ivan Monis, Principal of St. Mary’s  College, Shirva, Mr. Melwyn Aranha ,Vice President of Shirva Parish Pastoral Council, C.A. Mr.Pritish D’Sa, Vice President of Moodubelle Parish Pastoral Council, Ln. Devadas Hebbar, Former President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Leena Machado, Convener of 21 Commissions of Shirva Pastoral Council was present on the stage.

Mrs. Maria Jacinta Furtado, NSS program officer in her introductory remarks highlighted the aims and objectives of the NSS annual camp. Ms. Ankita Rao and NSS student leader. Mr. Sinchit compered the program. Co-program officer Mr. Royston Quadros proposed a vote of thanks.

Other co-program officers Mrs. Shalini Lobo, Mrs. Glanish Mendonca, Mr. Keshava P, Mrs. Deepika Mendonca, Mr. Maxim D’Souza and the teaching and non-teaching staff from St. Mary’s PU College, Shirva, St Lawrence High School, Moodubelle parents of NSS volunteers and villagers from Moodubelle were present on the occasion.

On 26-09-2025 Valedictory function was presided by Mr. Jayashankara K, Principal, St. Mary’s PU College, Shirva. Mr. Vinaya Kumar Sorake, Ex Minister, Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest of the program.

NSS program officer, Mrs. Maria Jacinta Furtado and Mr.Edward Noronha were falicitated on this occasion.

UDUPI DISTRICT LEVEL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2025

The Udupi District Level Football Tournament was held on 13th September 2025 with great enthusiasm at St Mary’s ground. The tournament was inaugurated by M.J.F Ln. Ronald Menezes.     

V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Lesslie C D’Souza, Correspondent, Don Bosco and St. Mary’s Institutions presided the inauguration ceremony and appreciated the efforts of all players. Ln. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Parish Council, Mr. K R Patkar, President, Alumni Association, Ln. Norbert Machado, Mr. Sathish Hegde, President, Physical Education Lecturer’s Association, Udupi graced the occasion.       

Result:

Udupi Taluk boys won Winners title and Karkala Taluk won Runners Title.

Girls team of Kaup Taluk won Winners title and Karkala Taluk girls team became the Runners.

KAUP TALUK LEVEL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2025

The much awaited Kaup  Taluk Level Football Tournament was successfully held on 6th September 2025. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 9 teams.

The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. K. R. Patkar, President,Alumni  Association, St Mary’s P U College ,Shirva. The inauguration ceremony was presided by V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Lesslie C D’Souza, Correspondent, Don Bosco and St Mary’s Institutions.

Dr. Suma, President of Supervising Committee for Sport, Kaup Taluk,  Ln. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Parish Council and Ln. Norbert Machado graced the occasion.

Result:

St. Mary’s P U College, Shirva, the Boys bagged Winners and St. John’s Composite P U College , Shankarapura the Runners award.

St. Mary’s P U College, Shirva girls team become the Winners and   St. John’s Composite P U College, Shankarapura became the Runners.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION 2025

Teacher’s Day was celebrated on 4th September 2025.  The program was organized by the Alumni Association, St Mary’s P U College, Shirva.

Mr. K. R Patkar, President, Alumni Association, Mr. Melwyn Arahna, Vice President, Shirva Parish Council, Mr. Norbert Machado and members of association were present in the program.

Mr. Jayashankara K ,Principal welcomed the gathering. V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Lesslie C Dsouza, Correspondent Don Bosco and St. Mary’s Institutions was present in the program.

Correspondent, V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Lesslie C Dsouza quoted the responsibilities of a teacher towards society and praised the efforts in bringing out good qualities among students.

St. Mary’s High School and P.U.C and Don Bosco Higher Primary School staff members were honored in this occasion.

C.P.L Ms. Jenisia Castelino expressed Vote of Thanks.

Students have conducted various activities for the staff members.

Independence Day Celebration 2025

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated in our college on 15th August 2025. Ln.Walter Menezes was the Chief Guest of the program.  

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’Souza, Correspondent, Don Bosco and St. Mary’s Institutions was the president of the program. Mr. Norbert Machado, President of Alumni Association, Mr. Melwyn Arahna, Vice President, Shirva Parish Church Council, Mr. Charles Mohan Noronha, President of Lions Club Shirva, Mr. Julain Rodrigus, Mr. Irwyn D’souza, Mr. Peter Corda, Mr. Denis Mathias and members of various associations were present in the program.

Pre University College Principal Mr. Jayashankar K welcomed the guests.

At this 79th Independence Day the flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Ln. Walter Menezes and he memorized the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’Souza addressed the students and explored the colours in our national flag, white for peace, saffron (Kesari) for courage and scarifies and green for growth. He also gave a call to adopt these features in our life.

The winners of various competitions were honored with prizes.Don Bosco Higher Primary School Head Mistress Mrs. Sandhya Mendonca introduced the guest to the gathering.

High School Senior Teacher Mrs. Sabina Priya Norohna expressed the vote of thanks.

Staff members and students of St. Mary’s PU College, St. Mary’s High School, Don Bosco Higher Primary School were participated in the program.

TALENTS DAY CELEBERATION 2025

The program was successfully conducted on 26th July 2025 at Saude Sabha Bhavan with the objective of providing a platform for the disclosure the talents of students. 

The event began with a prayer. Mr. Jayashankara K, Principal welcomed the gathering.

The Golden Jubile Sovenior “Golden Chronicles” was released by the Correspondent V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’souza and he appreciated the editorial committee. He explained about the role played by each group of an educational institute, i.e students, parents, faculty members and the management and also congratulated them. 

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Maria Jacinta Furtado.

Mr. Melwyn Arahna, Vice President, Pastoral Council and Mr. Norbert Machado President, Alumni Association were also present in the program.

Mrs. Priyanka Gomes, Lecturer in English compared the program.

The program was followed by cultural activities of the students.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY AND FRESHER’S DAY

The program for the new academic year was successfully conducted on 28th June 2025 at Saude Sabha Bhavan with the objective of welcoming the newly admitted students and providing them with an overview of the institutions values.

The event begins with an invocational welcome dance. Mr Jayashankara K Principal welcomed the gathering who emphasized the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline and holistic development followed by lightning of the lamp to mark an auspicious beginning.

The college council members solemnly took the oath promising to uphold the values and responsibilities entrusted to them.

Mrs. Prabha Shenoy, Lecturer in Mathematics introduced the guest Mr Rajendra Bhat to the gathering.

The chief guest addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech. He emphasized on choosing correct role models and nurturing the students with love and care.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs Maria Jacinta Furtado, appreciating active participation of Students.

The correspondent Very.Rev.Fr.Dr. Leslie C D’souza congratulated the council members and highlighted the college’s vision, mission and commitment to academic excellence.

ANTI DRUG DAY CELEBERATION

A procession was undertaken on 26th June 2025 by Police Station Shirva, Rotary Club Shirva and St. Mary’s PU College along with the NSS unit of the PU College. Principal, staff members and NSS Officer coordinated this Rally marching from the main gateway of the college to main streets of Shirva.

Mr. Shreedhara K, A.S.I, Shirva Police Station welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Jayashree Maane, Circle Inspector, Kaup addressed the students on the awareness on drug abuse.

Mr.Jayashankara K,Principal,St.Mary’s PU College addressed the gathering. He raised awareness among students and told them to promote Anti Drug Activities within them and others.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION – ANNUAL MEET 2025

PTA Annual Meet 2025 was held on 14/06/2025, Saturday at Soude  Sabha Bhavan, Shirva.

Mr. Norbert Martis , Retired Principal, Govt. P.U College, Kokrady was the chief guest of the program.  Mr. Melwyn Aranha,Vice President,Church Pastoral Council and Mr. Norbert Machado, President, Alumni Association were the guests of the program.

Very. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie Clifford D’ Souza, Correspondent of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva was the president of the program.. Students as well as parents were present in the program.

Mr. Jayashankara K, Principal, St, Mary’s PU College welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Glenisha Reshma  Mendonsa introduced the chief guest.

Chief Guest, Norbert Martis described about the good qualities of students. He mentioned “accept your parents as they are” and “never feel guilty about their profession” .  He also advised the parents about their responsibilities towards their children. Also he mentioned spend your time with your children which will enhance the bondage between family. He also appreciated the role of the teachers who helps to achieve the progress of the student.

The program was followed by the felicitation to distinction holder students of 2PUC . Mrs. Mamatha D  read the list of distinction holders.

Mrs. Maria Jecintha Furtado was felicitated for the sponsorship of felicitation to distinction holders.

Very. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie Clifford D’ Souza delivered the details about the training programs conducted by the institution for the better performance of students in an affordable fees and through these initiatives the institution is delivering excellent service to the people of shirva.

College topper Mr. Glenston Chris Dias shared his memories about his esteemed institution.

The PTA Committee was selected for the year 2025-26. Mr. Murugesh was selected as the President and Mrs. Prabha Shenoy as Secretary along with 6 other members. The program was concluded by the Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Prabha Shenoy.
