College Day Celebration

The College Day of St. Mary’s PU College, Shirva was held on Saturday, Dec 14, 2024 at the Monsingor Hilary Gonsalves Auditorium.

The Flag hoisting ceremony was scheduled at 9 a.m. and Rev. Fr. Fedrick D’Souza, Correspondent of St Francis English Medium School, Mudarangady was the chief guest of the programme. Ln. Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Church Pastoral Council, Ln. Mr. Norbert Machado, President, St. Mary’s Alumni Association & Golden Jubilee Committee, Jayashankar K, Principal, Mrs.Pauline Lobo, Head Mistress,Don Bosco Primary School, Shirva, Mrs. Sabeena Priya Narohna, Senior Teacher,St.Mary’s High School, Shirva were also present on the occasion.

Prize distribution was done for achievers in various activities.

The Annual Day celeberation programme was held in the evening under the presidency of  Monsingor Rev.Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalvis,Vicar General,Udupi Diocese. Dr.Richard Vincent D’Souza,Retired I.A.S officer was the chief guest of the programme.

Mr. Norbert Machado, President, St. Mary’s Alumni Association & Golden Jubilee Committee, Secretary Jacinta D’Souza and Principal Jayashankar K and heads of St.Mary’s Institutions were also present in the programme.

The programme was followed by different cultural programmes by the staffs and students of St.Mary’s group of institutions.

Golden Jubilee Valedictory Ceremony

The valedictory ceremony of the golden jubilee celebrations of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva, was held on Friday, Dec 13, 2024 at the Monsingor Hilary Gonsalves Auditorium.

Most V.Rev.Fr. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi diocese. presided the programme. Former Minister Mr.Vinay Kumar Sorake, Rev. Fr. Vincent Crasta, Secretary of the Catholic Educational Society of Udupi diocese, Mrs Savita Poojary, President of Shirva Grama Panchayath were the chief guests of the programme.

Very. Rev. Fr. Dr Leslie Clifford D’ Souza, Correspondent of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva, Fr. Ronson Pinto,Fr. Anil Rodrigues Asst. Parish Priests of St Mary’s Church, Shirva,Fr. Rolwin Joy Aranha, Principal of Don Bosco School Shirva, Sister Diana,Sister Superior Nativity Convent,Shirva,Sister Neema Ros, Sister Superior Auxillium Nivas,Shirva, Sr. Pauline Pereira, Sister Superior Kripalaya Convent and PTA President were present in the programme.

Ln. Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Church Pastoral Council and Ln. Mr. Norbert Machado, President, St. Mary’s Alumni Association and Golden Jubilee Committee, Secretary Jacinta D’Souza and Principal Jayashankar K were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop addressed the student and told “dream big and let those dreams be so powerful that they drive you relentlessly until they are achieved”.

On the occasion former minister Mr. Vinay Kumar Sorake remarked, “This institution was established through the vision of Monsingor Hilary Gonsalves, and his dream has been truly realized”. 

Retired teaching and non-teaching staffs, donors, sports achievers, and other contributors were felicitated for their invaluable service and achievements.

The programme was followed by the cultural programmes.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2024-25

The Annual Sports Meet was organized for the students of St Mary’s PU College, High School and Don Bosco Higher Primary School on 21st and 22nd of November, 2024 at College ground.

Sr. Pauline Pereira, Sister Superior Kripalaya Convent and PTA President, Ln. Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Church Pastoral Council and Ln. Mr. Norbert Machado, President, St. Mary’s Alumni Association and Golden Jubilee Committee were the Chief Guests of the programme .

Very. Rev. Fr. Dr Leslie Clifford D’ Souza, Correspondent of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva was the president of the programme.

Mr. Jayashankar K, Principal, St, Mary’s PU College welcomed the gathering.Sr. Pauline Pereira enlightened her thoughts through a story of a school student. Mr. Norbert Machado recalled his school day memories. The Annual Sports Meet was started with a symbolic balloon release by the guests.

Very. Rev. Fr. Dr Leslie Clifford D’ Souza appreciated the students for their march past and discipline in the programme.Mr. Joseph D’ Souza delivered Vote of Thanks.

Valedictory function was held on 22nd November 2024. Very. Rev. Fr. Dr Leslie Clifford D’ Souza, Correspondent, congratulated the participants for their active participation as well as the efforts of all staff members who took active part in success of all events. Mr. John William Vegas proposed Vote of Thanks.

ANNUAL NSS CAMP VALEDICTORY PROGRAM

The Valedictory Program of Annual NSS Camp of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva was organized on October 9th at St Joseph’s English Medium School, Belman.

NSS officer Mrs. Maria Jacintha Furtado welcomed the gathering. The President of the program Rev. Fr. Vincent Crasta, Secretary, Catholic Educational Society of Udupi (CESU) was felicitated in the program.

Mr. Jayashankar K, Principal, St, Mary’s PU College, Shirva delivered the valedictory speech.  During the seven-day NSS camp training program was held on various fields by different resource persons.

Mr. K.R Patkar, Secretary, St. Mary’s PU College Alumni Association, Mrs. Lydwin Aranha, Head Mistress of St Joseph’s English Medium School, Belman, Rev. Fr. Arnold Matthias, Asst. Priest, St. Joseph Church, Belman, Mrs.  Laila Babitha, Head Mistress of St Joseph’s High School, Belman and Mrs. Jenet D’mello, Secretary of the Belman Church Pastoral committee were the other dignitaries present in the program.

Staff members of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva, Parents and local public were present in the program.

Miss Shabari Shetty delivered the Vote of Thanks and Mr. Sinchith compered the program.

ANNUAL NSS CAMP INAUGURATION

St. Mary’s PU College, Shirva, inaugurated its Annual NSS Camp on October 3rd at St. Joseph’s English Medium School, Belman.

Mr. Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media, inaugurated the camp. In his motivational speech, he shared inspiring thoughts and fondly recalled his own experiences as an NSS volunteer during his college days. He was also honored by the college administration during the event.

Fr.  Fredrick Mascharenhas, Correspondent of St Joseph’s School, Belman graced the inaugural ceremony with his presence.

Mr. Melwin Aranha, Vice President of the Shirva Church Pastoral Committee. Mrs. Lydwin Aranha, Head Mistress of St. Joseph’s English Medium School, Belman, Mrs. Flavia D’Souza, Secretary of the Shirva Church Pastoral Committee  and Mr. Gregory Menezes, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Committee, Belman were the dignitaries present in the program.

Mr. Jayashankar K, the Principal, welcomed the gathering. NSS officer Mrs. Maria Jacintha Furtado gave an overview of the seven-day program for the annual NSS camp.

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Dr Leslie Clifford D’ Souza, Correspondent of St Mary’s PU College, Shirva said, “The institution is celebrating its golden jubilee this academic year. NSS volunteers are known for their discipline, time management, and service-oriented mindsets. Along with educational achievements, service activities like the NSS are also important”.

Mr. Edward Larsen D’ Souza, NSS co-convener, delivered the vote of thanks and Miss. Nikitha compered the program.

GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATION

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 2nd October 2024 in our college.

Mr. Jayashankar K, Principal welcomed the gathering.

The Correspondent V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’ Souza spoke about the moral values. The students who won the prizes in various activities were honored.

Mr. Laxmana Rao proposed Vote of Thanks and Mrs. Priyanka Gomes compered the program.

TALUK LEVEL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Kaup Taluk Level Football Tournament was held on 24th Sept. 2024, Tuesday in our college.

The Inauguration program was presided by Rotarian Mr. Melwyn D’Souza, Lawyer.

Ln. Mr. Norbert Machado, President of St. Mary’s Alumni Association, Ln. Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Vice President, Shirva Church Pastoral Committee were present in the program.

Mr.Jayashankar K ,Principal of St. Mary’s P.U College, Shirva welcomed the gathering.

The Correspondent V. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’Souza was the President of the program.

St. Mary’s P.U College, Shirva were the Winners and Poorna Prajna P.U College, Admar were the Runners up of boys Category and in girls team of St. Mary’s P.U College, Shirva declared as the Winners and qualified for the District level.

Mr. Joseph Dsouza, Physical Director proposed Vote of Thanks.

Mrs. Shalini Jyothi Lobo, compared the program. Total 09 teams took part in the tournament.

NSS DAY CELEBRATION 2024

NSS Day was celebrated on 21st September 2024 at 12.00 noon in C.S Hall. Members invoked prayer.

NSS Program Officer Mrs. Maria Jecintha Furtado welcomed all. Mr. Edward Larson D’Souza, NSS Asst. Camp Officer spoke on NSS Day and International Peace Day.

Chief Guest honoured the prizes to the member of the competitions. Chief Guest Mr. Mewyn Castelino, NSS Officer of St. Mary’s College addressed the members to “Rise High the NSS Service” and hold joint venture service of NSS in the campus.

Mr. Jayashankar K , our Principal bestowed Best Wishes to all NSS unit and appreciated the work and service.

Lucky Draw chit was chosen by the Correspondent and Shabhari Shetty was the winner.

Mr. Vivek, old student of the college now working for the Central Reserve Police Force addressed the students and raised the highness of service to Indian Defense Force.

Mr. Melwyn Arahna, Vice President, Shirva Parish Church Council filled cheer amongst students and shared his NSS experiences as Alumni of the College.

Correspondent, the President of the Program appreciated the work of NSS and continues the same.

Sinchit of IA proposed Vote of Thanks. All members sung the NSS Song “Rashtriya Seva Yojana”.

Program was followed by lunch to Guest, Staff and Members.

Kho-Kho Tournament

Kaup Taluk Level Kho-Kho Tournament was held on 9th Sept. 2024, Monday in our college.

The Inauguration program was presided by the Correspondent V.Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C Dsouza.

Ln. Mr. Norbert Machado, President of St. Mary’s Alumni Association has inaugurated the program.

Ln. Mr. Melwyn Aranha ,Vice President ,Shirva Church Pastoral Committee , Mr. Irwin Dsouza, Retired Canara Bank Officer, Shirva and Ln. Mr. Charles Mohan Noronha, Treasurer, St. Mary’s PU Alumni  were the Chief Guests.

Mr. Joseph Dsouza, Physical Director welcome the gathering. Vote of Thanks was rendered by Mrs. Mamatha, Economics Lecturer.

Mrs. Glenisha Reshma Mendonca, compared the program. Total 08 boys teams and 04 girls teams took part in the tournament.

Jnanaganaga P.U College, Nellikatte, Moodubelle were the winners and St. Mary’s P.U College, Shirva runners up of boys Category and in girls category Jnanaganaga P.U College, Nellikatte, Moodubelle were the winners and Poornaprajna P.U College, Admar were runners up.

Independence Day Celebration 2024

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated in our college on 15th August 2024. Ln. Charles Mohan Noronha, President of Lions Club Shirva was the Chief Guest of the program.   

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’Souza was the president of the program. Mr. Nobert Machado, President of Alumni Association, Mr. Melwyn Arahna, Vice President, Shirva  Church Parish Council and members of various associations were present in the program.

Pre University Principal Mr. Jayashankar K welcomed the guests.

At this 78th Independence Day the flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest, Ln. Charles Mohan Noronha.

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C D’Souza addressed the students and told we have to change ourselves to make modern India and alarmed the students for Quality Education.

The winners of various competitions are honored with prizes.

High School Head Mistress Mrs. Sabina Priya Norohna expressed the Vote of Thanks.
