NSS day 23-9-2023

2023 NSS day was celebrated on 23-9-2023. NSS members invoked prayer. NSS program officer Mrs Maria Jacintha Furtado welcomed. Mr Edward L Dsouza Principal of St. Lawrence PU College Moodubelle the guest of honour spoke on NSS day importance and NSS camp. Principal Jayshankar K addressed NSS members and bestowed wishes of the day. NSS leader Sameeksha read the prize list of NSS day -drawing, quiz and singing competitions. V. Rev. Dr. Leslie Clifford Dsouza Correspondent distributed the prizes to the winners. In his Presidential address he wished all members to become responsible students, NSS members to become useful family members and inculcate good culture to build the character.  Pranam of ID won the prize of NSS Day ‘Lucky Member’. All NSS members sang NSS song. Vote of thanks was proposed by convenor Ananya Bhat. Chaitra was the MC for the program. NSS members prepared lunch for all the guest and staff members. Program ended with fellowship lunch.

Kapu Taluk Level Football Tournament

On 11th September 2023, St. Mary’s PU College Shirva organized Kapu taluk level Football tournament. The inaugural programme started with the prayer. The Principal Mr Jayashankar K welcomed the gathering. The tournament was inaugurated by Ln Urban Dsouza President, Old student Association St Mary’s College, Shirva.  Ln Melwin Aranha Vice President Parish Council Our Lady Of Health Church Shirva, Mrs. Flevy Dsouza, Secretary Parish Council Our Lady Of Health Church Shirva , Mrs. Leena Machado were the Chief Guest. V. Rev. Dr. Leslie C. Dsouza Presided the function. Mr. Joseph Dsouza Physical Director proposed the vote of thanks. 8 boys team and 3 girls team participated in the tournament. Validictory programme was witnessed by Mr. Wilson Rodrigues Vice President Shirva Grama Panchayath.

Teachers’ day celebration

“The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves”- Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Teacher’s Day is celebrated on September 5, since it marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, The students displayed their loveand affection for the teachers by arranging the morning assembly at the college ground. It started by prayer song sung by high school students. CPL Pavan welcomed the gathering. The Principal Mr Jayashankar K and High school senior teacher Mrs. Sabina Priya Noronha offered flowers to the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Shreeraksha class 10th and Jeenal 2nd PUC spoke about the significance of teachers’ day. DCPL and SPL presented gift to the teachers as their token  of love and respect. Principal in his speech appreciated the dedication of teachers to the students. SPL Vinay delivered the vote of thanks. Freeda 2nd PUC compere the program. Games were conducted for the Teachers and prizes were distributed to the winners in the evening.

D’Souza Presided the function. 7 boys teams and 3 girls teams participated in the tournament. Mr. Joseph D’souza Physical Director proposed the vote of thanks.

Founders Day Celebration

On 26th August 2023 Founders day was celebrated. The day was dedicated to honour the vision and mission of Msng. Hilary Gonsalves. The programme began by invoking prayer by the students of High school section. High School Senior teacher Sr Brijidth Madtha welcomed the gathering. The event is graced by Mrs Maria Jacintha Furtado, In-charge Principal of St Mary’s PU College Shirva with a speech by paying homage to the Founder of our Institution. On behalf of all, SPL and CPL paid homage by garlanding the statue of Msng. Hilary Gonsalves. Mr Joseph D’Souza Physical Director proposed the vote of thanks.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great joy at our college. V. Rev. Dr. Leslie Clifford D’souza had Presided the function. President of Lions Club Shirva Ln. Felix Dsouza was the chief guest. Principal Mr. Jayashankar welcomed the guests. The chief guest hoisted the National flag and addressed the students. The Correspondent interacted with students discussing the importance of tricolor and how it should be lived in our lives. Independence Day competitions prizes were distributed to the winners. Sr. Brijith proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was witnessed by members of Lions Club Shirva, Old student association members. At the end sweets were distributed to the students.

St. Mary’s PUC N.S.S Unit Installation

NSS unit installation of St. Mary’s PUC- Shirva held on 15/07/2023 in the morning at the college hall.

Mr. Jayashankar. K. – Principal- in-charge welcomed. College Correspondent Very. Rev. Fr. Dr. Leslie C. D’souza inaugurated the installation ceremony of NSS unit with the lighting of the lamp. President of the function wished and blessed the NSS Unit; to bring laurels to the institution.

Mr. Edward L. D’souza Principal-in-charge of St. Lawrence PUC Moodubelle gave the ‘Bird’s Eye View’ of NSS Organisation with his rich experiences.

Chief guest Mrs. Savitha Ermal – NSS Divisional Program Co-ordinator of Udupi, Kodagu and Mangalore Districts spoke on ‘NSS Members’ from college unit to national level; How best they can develop positively  – To become responsible citizens.

Madam Savitha was felicitated with a shawl, garland and memento from the NSS Unit of the college. NSS Unit head Sameeksha introduced the chief guest.

Medicinal saplings were planted to aim at ‘Protect the Mother Earth’ by the guest, student members and officers.

Mrs. Maria Jacintha Furtado – NSS Program Unit Officer of the college donated medicinal saplings and proposed vote of thanks.

Unit member Deekshith Acharya compered NSS Installation Program. Kum. Ananya Bhat was the convenor. One Hundred member students, Lecturers, Non- Teaching Staff, Vice President of ‘Our Lady of Health Church Shirva’ Mr. Melwyn Aranha were present.
